Monster was a good movie. The film is successful in making you feel sympathy but then brings you around to realize just how insane this woman was.
While everyone raved about Charlize Theron’s acting I will have to say in the immortal words of Coach Z “You did a great jorb.” While I would have enjoyed some full frontal from Christina Ricci movies aren’t just about who gets naked anymore.
Charlize did such a bang up job and with all the makeup and extra weight you had no idea it was her. This I think really helps define the character and helps the viewer feel more involved. I find it humorous how it’s the actresses putting on and taking off weight for parts. I remember when De Niro packed on like a zillion pounds to play Capone.
Anyway, Monster is a good film, but if you’re in a “comedy” type of mood, don’t watch it, it will bring you way down. Wait until your Girlfriend/Boyfriend dumps you then watch it.
