40,000 Miles…ok 2,000 miles.

Today after spending some money at the BMW dealer on a new jacket, glasses, some oil, and filters I rolled back into my spot at work. Low and behold I look down…Exactly at 40,000 miles! So I had to take a picture.

When I bought the bike it had just under 38,000, like 37,995 or something like that. So I have put 2,000 miles on the bike since July! Pretty good for me.

I am in need of an oil change and an air filter change so I hope to do that this weekend if I have time.

100,000 verticle feet of fun?

On Saturday I took part in the Colorado Beemers annual 100,000ft ride. Where you head over a number of mountain passes engaging in a 100,000 verticle feet change. The whole ride is about 470 miles, we shortened it up a bit bypassing a two of the passes.

The route was from Lakewood, up I-70, over Bethoud Pass, to Grandby, up Trail Ridge road and back down, then to Misquito Pass, back down to Kremling for lunch. From Kremling up Rabbit Ears pass and back down, then over Gore Pass then to Wolcott. Get on I-70 at Wolcott and take that down to C-470, then to Morrison and Big Bear Park.

We cut out the Misquito pass and Rabbit Ears pass routes. It was a lot of fun, until we left our stop at the top of Vail pass. We were about 1/3 of the way down (in the rain) when my bike died. It had been fine for the 310 miles I had ridden it all day and it just cut out. We ended up taking turns coasting and pushing the bike down the shoulder of Vail Pass to Copper. So one of us coasted and pushed, the other followed on the other bike.

I ended up getting AAA to flatbed the bike back to my house, 90 miles, and called it a day. In the end it was a fun ride, I am just disappointed I didn’t get to finish it like everyone else.

Here are some pictures I took at lunch:

The Honda is gone :(

It sold this evening to John and Nicki. I think they will be very happy with it, but I am still sad to see it go.

The Hondamatic may be gone soon :(

I posted it for sale on Craigslist, I really don’t want to sell it, Renee doesn’t want us to sell it, but we don’t really have anywhere to keep it. I guess I could keep it in the shed out back, but then it will never get ridden.

It’s tough to let go of because it is such a good bike, it is unique and easy to ride. I love the BMW, but there will always be a special place in my heart for the Honda. Not to mention it is expected that these will jump in value in the coming years.

Anyway, I have a lot of interested parties in the bike, I expect it to go quickly.

Well here tehy are, the mutch anticipated pictures of my new bike. Sorry it took so long to get them up. We have just been really busy. Since picking it up a few weeks ago I have already put about 200 miles on it. If it weren’t raining outside all day I would be out riding right now. :(

Check out these teaser pics, click on them to view the rest of the album.
