100,000 verticle feet of fun?

On Saturday I took part in the Colorado Beemers annual 100,000ft ride. Where you head over a number of mountain passes engaging in a 100,000 verticle feet change. The whole ride is about 470 miles, we shortened it up a bit bypassing a two of the passes.

The route was from Lakewood, up I-70, over Bethoud Pass, to Grandby, up Trail Ridge road and back down, then to Misquito Pass, back down to Kremling for lunch. From Kremling up Rabbit Ears pass and back down, then over Gore Pass then to Wolcott. Get on I-70 at Wolcott and take that down to C-470, then to Morrison and Big Bear Park.

We cut out the Misquito pass and Rabbit Ears pass routes. It was a lot of fun, until we left our stop at the top of Vail pass. We were about 1/3 of the way down (in the rain) when my bike died. It had been fine for the 310 miles I had ridden it all day and it just cut out. We ended up taking turns coasting and pushing the bike down the shoulder of Vail Pass to Copper. So one of us coasted and pushed, the other followed on the other bike.

I ended up getting AAA to flatbed the bike back to my house, 90 miles, and called it a day. In the end it was a fun ride, I am just disappointed I didn’t get to finish it like everyone else.

Here are some pictures I took at lunch:

What’s that spell…VEGAS VEGAS VEGAS!

That’s right boys and girls is Vegas time again. This time we are going to celebrate Wendi’s birthday, how old is she now?

Should be a fun time with a good group of people heading down. I know some can’t make it, so next time right? :)

I am also really enjoying the BMW, finally got it titled and registered yesterday and rode it into work yesterdya and today. Renee is itching to go for a ride on the back, but I think it will be a few weeks before I am comfortable with that.

Hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July!

What a weekend

It was so crazy that it took me until today to post about it. Okay, so it wasn’t crazy in a way that I would usually enjoy. Instead it involved a visit to the tax man, who agve me good news of a return instead of owing like I thought.

Then the arrival of some new furniture, followed by an adventurous trip to Conifer to retrieve a water pump for the Scout.

I know, I know, not very crazy yet.

So then Gilbs comes over to help work on the Scout, we get the old water pump off, do some scraping fo the old gasket, drink a bunch of beer and give up when we can’t free the bolts from the old water pump to remove the belt pulleys. We continued to drink and watch Hot Dog: The movie.

We also got the motorcycle fired up but the battery was dead so it wouldn’t run right.

Sunday was spent working on the bolt removal from the old water pump…no luck. Charging the motorcycle battery, luck and getting the ol piglet fired up. Took the pig for a ride around the block and was happy.

We did some yard work, which was less fun.

See, see how crazy the weekend was! Ugh, it was not crazy at all. I am just really really really really really really really really lame.

However, I have garnered a small amount of internet interest in a post I made about Bon Jovi almost two years ago. Well like a year and a half ago. Check out the post and the corresponding comments. Thank God most of them are foreign so they are nice to me. If it were other Americans responding they would be dropping f bombs left and right and telling me how much I suck. Um, anyway, here is the post:

What the hell is wrong with Bon Jovi

Sheryl Crow Kissed me…..

…the proof is long gone, not that it was really legible by anyone with 20/20.

Back in the day when Tuesday Night Music Club was becoming a hit, the HORDE Festival was here in Denver at Fiddlers Green. My buddy Nasca talked me into getting my ass out of bed to go meet Sheryl Crow. SHERYL CROW! I said, why waste my time with this wannabe. Well obviously I was wrong, but I was hungover so give me a break.

Anyway, we head out to compact discovery, a now long defunct CD store back when CDs were for the 1337. I looked like ass. Tired, hung over, dressed to the ….what is less than t? z? Anyway, it was my turn for the autograph, I asked Ms Crow if I could step behind the counter for the photo, she agreed.

In all my clumsiness I staggered behind the fold out table and crouched down next to Ms Crow. As my frind readied the disposable camera Ms Crow leaned over and planted one on me as my friend took the picture. Of course just my luck the picture never turned out.

That’s not so bad though, I’ve got my witnesses but after that day I said, this girl will be big. Sure she was HUGE for that album, but she has stayed aroudn, and showed her staying power all these years. I am forver a Sheryl Crow fan after that day even though it means nothing. Just the fact she did that for a fan that didn’t relaly even know who she was let me know how much her fans meant to her, so in my book, she will always be good.

So witnesses, picturesm whatever, Sheryl Crow kissed me and I will take that too my grave because it was definitley an honor for me to receive that fortunate smooch.
